Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Well I have just had the best Christmas day ever.... with all my little furry babies at the sanctuary (does that sound a bit sad!!! - well it stopped me eating til I popped!)

I have two great cats for you today.... both of which are flat cats.

Alfie is such a loving, friendly cat. He is about 7 years old and likes other cats and children.

Sadly, Alfie is deaf and blind in his right eye and has some sight in his left, though he does not let it affect him, he happily walks around his pen and get on with the other cats.

Alfie really deserves a good home with someone who will give him the love he wants to give his new owner. Could that be you.....

Sally is a beautiful 1 year old cat.

Sally is a shy cat who needs an experienced owner to help her flourish! Each week I see her she gets braver and more friendly - just imagine if you were with her every day!

She is great with other cats and children over 10.

I hope you have all enjoyed your Christmas day - I'll be back in a couple of weeks with an update.

Bye for now.

Hello cat lovers everywhere!!!

I'd like to start today by thanking every one who has helped us through 2006 - the staff (who are always fantastic!) all of our sponsors, all the people who give us donations - large and small, our Vets and of course all of you wonderful people who have given our cats a new chance of happiness!!!

From all of us -
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! and here's to a fantastic 2007!!!
Lots of our cats were homed this week -
and we have a whole lot of new ones to fill gaps. Note to burmese lovers.... watch this space!!!

Porsche and Mclaren are beautiful 3 years old girls. They are good friends and could not be separated though they both have their independent streak.

They have a lovely temperament and would make an excellent addition to any family.

Robin (very festive name!!!) is just about one of the sweetest tabbies I have ever met - he is very gentle and a giant of a cat. I think the word I would use is adorable!!! He is 8 years old - come quickly as I think Robin will be snapped up soon!!

As a christmas treat I thought I would share some of our younger residents...

And the mummy of that beautiful black kitten is gorgeous too....

these kittens will be ready to home very soon .... and so will their beautiful mummy's. Both of these mum's are very loving and very sweet.

Once again - thanks to all of you that have helped make our dreams a reality and helped us to help cats!

Have a happy christmas - and give your furry friends a cuddle from us!

Hello all you cat lovers out there!!

Are you getting excited about Christmas???? So am I !!

It's a great time to come to the sanctuary to find your new furry friend so that you can bond with them in those extra days you get off over the festive season!!

I found myself wanting to stay all night on Monday - so many little cats wanted to have an extra cuddle with me - I could have stayed all night!!!

I have picked these two lovelies for you this week - though it really was a tough choice.

My first is Kitty.

He is only one and has sadly lost one of his eyes. It doesn't give him any trouble at all and he absolutely loves his cuddles. And just look at his coat - it is sooooo shiny!!! He is a really lovely friendly cat and is good with other cats and children.

Tia is a one year old girl - she is a wonderful shade of grey (not really visable in these pictures) and white and absolutely adorable. She is sitting on my lap in this picture and rubbing her head on the shelf as my hands were busy trying to get a picture of her face!!!

And here she is a little annoyed that I have lifted her off my lap to get a proper picture of her - I think she looks model like!!!

Tia is very sweet and a little shy when you first meet her though give her a bit of time and she will give you all her love and attention - as you can see in the first picture. She needs to be the only cat and would be better in a dog free zone though she is good with children over 5.

Both of these cats really deserve to be given their forever home - they are so young and will give many years of happiness to you - come on.... you know you want to!!!

See you soon

Application for Registered Charity now in with the Charities Commission!

The Chestnut Cat Sanctuary/Rescue Centre would like to annouce that on Thursday the 7th December 2006 Miss Alison Sweeney BSc (Hons), a regular worker at the Sanctuary, has been appointed Trustee in charge of registering the Chestnut Cat Sanctuary/rescue Centre as a Charity in it's own right, and to deal with various fundraising/grant applications. This will help the Sanctuary becoming more cash/tax efficient AND for regular contributors will enable them to write off against tax! ...We will keep you informed of progress.
We wish her every success.

On the same date we also welcomed Ms Pat Tomlinson to the Board of Trustees .... as our "ideas" suggestor.

Hello - I'm back again and full of Christmas cheer!!!

I've got a cracker (get it!) for you this week.

Is this a beautiful cat - or what!!!
Weefkind is a gorgeous ginger and white (she actually looks like a rich creamy colour) Van point. She came from a very busy home full of humans and animals and sadly the owners just could not cope any more. Weefkind came to us to find her new forever family. She is a very young looking 10 years old and has a slight heart murmur and is in very, very early stages of renal failure.

She has at least two good years ahead of her so it's really important that a kind soul comes and takes her home to give her a warm bed, food and lots of love. She is a gentle, sweet girl and really deserves to be homed quickly.

In fact - I so want her to find a new home that she is the only cat I'm putting on the blog this week. Come and see her - you will fall in love with her sweet little face - she's very cuddly too!!!

Remember to come and visit our shop too! you will find lots of stuff for our furry babies - from cat grass seeds to toys, beds, food and collars for keeping them safe. There are also lots of books and cuddly toys for the rest of the family too!! and a fantastic coffee machine to help keep you warm while you look!!!

Our latest newsletter is out at the moment - so please take a look the next time you are in - this edition is written by our resident cat journalist - Lady (she's a very clever little thing you know!)

See you soon

Thanks to Roy & Margaret who organized a Collection weekend for the Sanctuary at Epping Tesco Friday 1st & 2nd December. We collected £445.98 and 3 trolleys of cat food.
Such large funds would feed all the cats for a month!
Many thanks for their efforts and also to Tesco Management for allowing it.
The largest single contributor was the local “Starmarker Party Shop" [ 69, Epping High Street, near Tesco ] who gave us their entire bag of change totaling £22.65!

Another great success at Pets at Home [Romford store]!!

We have hosted our second session of "Adoption - a second chance of happiness" and we have once again raised over £200 and collected some cat food - both of which will make a great difference to us and the cats here.

A BIG thank you to everyone who has supported us as well as to the store and management without whom none of this would have been achieved.

We will be back there - in our fancy dress costumes ;) - on the 22nd and 23rd December - please come along and support us - we would be delighted to see you!!!
